ABOUT THE COVER…
I chose this painting for the cover of TOST because it felt so fitting—not just visually, but philosophically. It reflects the very heart of what TOST is about.
My mother found this painting in a vintage shop, drawn to its charm, only to realize once she got it home that it was damaged. Instead of discarding it, she carefully repaired it, revealing something even more meaningful: proof that broken things aren’t lost things.
The world might seem a little damaged right now—or maybe you’re feeling that in your own life. But when we turn our eyes toward beauty in restoration rather than focusing on what’s flawed, we allow space for something new to emerge. Repair isn’t just about fixing—it’s about transformation. It’s about seeing goodness where others see ruin, recognizing potential where others see loss.
Mom, this is for you. Thank you for teaching me to seek beauty in life, especially in the broken and discarded places. There is always hope when there is an invitation to repair and create.
