TURNING UP THE VOLUME
Jennifer Edwards Amplifies Local Music, One Stage at a Time
BY HENRI-SOPHIE ALDRIDGE
In every thriving artistic community, there are those who create and those who amplify. Musicians may write the songs, but it takes a listener—someone who truly pays attention—to help those songs find their audience. That’s where Jennifer Edwards of Third Coast Music comes in.
What started as a personal quest to find live music in Boerne quickly became something much bigger. “I always wanted to go listen to live music, but venues weren’t great about posting dates and times,” Jennifer recalls. “So, I decided to make a calendar to help everyone know where and when there would be live music.” That simple act of paying attention—to the schedules, the venues, the artists—became a turning point. Soon, musicians were reaching out, looking for help in securing gigs, and Jennifer found herself in a new role: not just an observer, but a connector.
“By tuning in to the rhythms of the local scene, she has created a ripple effect. Her calendar doesn’t just help listeners find music; it helps musicians focus on creating, knowing that someone is out there ensuring their work gets heard.
The best part is definitely getting to do what I love—listening to live music and helping people,” she says.
“There are so many talented musicians, and my goal is to help them focus on their music and not their schedule.”
The result is a music scene that is not only growing but thriving. Boerne is becoming a destination for live music, with audiences seeking out performances and venues embracing the energy of a connected, engaged artistic community. “A musician reached out to me today and said when he played at Gruene Hall last week, several people asked if he played in Boerne,” Jennifer shares. Word is spreading, and with it, more opportunities for musicians to be seen, heard, and supported.
For those looking to experience live music, Jennifer recommends checking her event listings to discover what’s happening. Some venues, like Free Roam Brewing, Cibolo Creek Brewing, and Pure Country, cater to country and rock fans, while Lost Oak Cellars, Dodging Duck, and Tapatio Springs offer a more intimate atmosphere.
At the heart of it all, Jennifer’s work is a reminder that artistry flourishes when someone takes the time to notice. By keeping her eyes and ears open to local talent, she’s not only shining a light on musicians but helping build a culture where music isn’t just played—it’s truly heard.
